Church Records 1912-1913

March 10, 1912 ". . .our pastor read for the lesson a part of the 8th chapter of John after services. . .the case of J.L. Dickey was taken up and discussed.  The church decided instead of publishing J.L.D. (he being excluded from the church) to demand his credentials and ordered clerk to attend to same. . .J.P.McKay, moderator; Geo. Harrison, clerk

April 13, 1912 ". . .the clerk was granted more time to secure J.L. Dickey's credentials. . ."

July 1912 " . . .Sister (Anna Perkins) A. H. Coleman called for letter which was granted.  Sister Amanda [Reiter] Ingalls called for letter and was granted. ..next regular conference, messengers elected Roy Perkins, George Harrison, Verna Harrison.  J.P.McKay, mod; Geo Harrison C.C."

110 Aug. 10. 1912 ". . .Clerk ordered to write J. L. Dickey to return credentials to church.  Mrs. Ellen Owen called for letter which was granted.  The church then proceeded to elect a pastor for the ensuing year which resulted in the election of Bro. Roy Perkins. . ."

". . . Bro. N. Eoff serve as moderator and J. W. Bittick clerk pro tem.  1st the church proceeded to elect a pastor which resulted in the unanimous vote for Bro. J. P. McKay to serve the remainder of the year. 2nd the time of business meeting was changed Sat. before second Sunday to Sat. before the 4th Sunday. . ."

114 April 27, 1913 ". . ."at their request Mr. and Mrs. Phenty [Annie Reiter] and Mrs. Millie Belew were granted letters of dismission to unite with the DeSoto Baptist Church.  After discussing some needed improvements on the church building, the church adjourned. . ."

Nov. 22, 1913". . .the church call a Presbytery namely Bro. J.B. Emmons, E.E. Howe, J.E. Short, Wm Alvoid, Newton Eoff, J. P. McKay, A H Blake, Fred Gasche and Dan Henry for the purpose of ordaining Bro. Roy Perkins . . ."

118 Nov. 30, 1913 ". . .the council composed of the following named Brethren E.E. Howe, Newton Eoff and J.P. McKay, Deacons J. Adams and Dan Henry.  Just before the preaching said council met and organized for the purpose of examining Bro. Roy Perkins to the work of the Gospel.  E.E. Howe was chosen to preach ordination sermon and led in examination of the candidate.  Newton Eoff read charge to candidate and JP McKay led the ordaining prayer.  Mrs. Mary Huskey called for letter from the Bethlehem Church to unite with some other church of the same faith and order which was granted.. . "

Church Records 1904

 The photo above is from the Jefferson County Baptist Association 1913.  One of the documents below mentions Amanda Reiter Ingalls who is one of the women standing by the fence post.  Her husband William Barber Ingalls is seated the second man from the left.

 January 1904 ". . .the Committee who was appointed to see Bro. Jas. Adams was asked to report.  Then the church decided the charge must be stated and as nothing could be done, the case was dropped and committee was discharged."

1896-1908 Membership Records Continued

 Rowena A. Ingalls was the infant daughter of Amanda Reiter and W.B. Ingalls who died in 1903.  Her grave is in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Hulsey, Carrie Wilson, Amanda [Reiter] Ingalls, Myrtle McKay, Anna C. Bittick (now Maness), Ray McKay. (This document is repeated to document all of the names in my index "labels")

Bethlehem Cemetery

My cousins Kathy, Steve and I visited Bethlehem Cemetery. Kathy is pointing out Louis Reiter our g-g grandfather---his stone is barely readable. Thank goodness it was next to his wife's Eliza E. (Tyrey) Reiter.
Newer ones were very nice like Joseph (1903) and Gladys Long (1904). Joseph was Jeptha Long's son and first cousin to our grandfather Roy Long.
Leo Long (1925-1981) and Anna Lee (1926-1986) was Joe and Gladys's son and his wife.
Fred Reiter (1874-1945) and Rose M. Bruns (1886-1954) were Roy Long's uncle and aunt. Fred's sister was our g-grandmother Mary Reiter Long.
Almost everyone in the cemetery is related to us. Dr. Milton Harbison and Amanda Graham Harbison are distant cousins.
These are Browns who are also distant cousins (our great-great grandmother was Catherine Caroline Brown)
Margaret Brown was Thomas and Jeptha Long's cousin. I believe she never married and lived with the Jeptha Longs until her death.
The Reabans are also cousins through the Harbisons and Grahams.
Julius Valle (1859-1947) and Betty E. Jones Valle (1863-1904). Julius is Eliza Tyrey Reiter's nephew---son of Caroline Tyrey Valle.
Vincent P 1869- 1953 and Annie J. Phenty 1876-1935. Annie was Mary Reiter Long's sister.
This stone is for the infant Rowena Ingalls who was the daughter of Amanda Ingalls, one of Mary Reiter Long's sisters.
Eliza E. Reiter born April 1, 1846 Died Oct. 29, 1906 Aged 60. Eliza Tyrey Reiter was my g-g grandmother married to Louis Reiter.
James Pounds born Feb. 24, 1794. He helped raise my g-g grandfather Milton Long.
Some were very hard to read. I think this is one of William Kane Graham's wives---Elizabeth. (he married two cousins named Elizabeth, and they are both buried in this cemetery---Elizabeth Long and Elizabeth Pounds)
William Graham died April 13, 1880 Aged 51 yrs. 6 m's 1 d'y---this is William Kane Graham brother of my g-g-g grandmother Mary "Polly" Graham Brown.
Milton and Catherine (Brown) Long died Jan. 7, 1894---obviously a new stone for my g-g grandparents
Madison Graham died Apr. 25, 1882. Aged 67 Yrs. He was also the brother of my g-g-g grandmother Mary "Polly" Graham Brown.
